Downtown Grosse Point
On location again for my cityscapes project for United Shore Financial Services, this time in Grosse Pointe. This sunset image will be used by the client as wallpaper in one of their conference rooms. Grosse Pointe has such a nice vibrant downtown it was a pleasure to work around town.
A couple more from Grosse Pointe...
I've spent a lot of time photographing Northville over the years, it's close by, charming and I've had artwork in galleries there for a few years.
One of my Northville images is what initially attracted United Shore Financial Services to my work. It's a shot of downtown taken during the blue hour...
This image was hard to come by, I waited out years of construction and the lights are rarely on at the Marquis Theater as they are here. So when Northville was assigned to a conference room wall too large for a single frame image, I wasn't sure that this could be recreated in the short time frame we had to complete the artwork for this project.
I shot the multi-image panorama below in the pouring rain. It was the only night the Marquis Theater had an evening event scheduled.
It was interesting transitioning from cities I'd photographed often previously, like Northville, to cities I'd never visited before. Clarkston was one of those cities on the listed I'd never visited previously. It took a couple of visits to get an image I was happy with, mainly because of the predominance of holiday decorations around town.
Clarkston has a welcoming vibe and I enjoyed a great lunch on the corner at Olde Village Cafe, time well spent in Clarkston.
Up next, Birmingham, Dearborn and Pontiac....
