"Clearing Storm at Sunset" | Capitol Reef National Park
We made our way from the Escalante area to Capitol Reef via the Burr Trail and the Notom-Bullfrog backroads. The Burr trail leads you through some stunningly vivid red canyons and meets up with the Notom-Bullfrog road near "The Switchbacks". From the top of the switchbacks you get an unbelievable view of the entire area. A wonderful introduction to Capitol Reef.

There were far more hikes on our "to-do" list than we could possibly accomplish during our short stay, but we tackled as many as we could. Our evening hike to Hickman Bridge was a memorable one.

The Capitol Reef area was home to the Fremont people long ago and they left behind some 800 year-old petroglyphs for us to ponder.

We spent one of our days exploring the remote Cathedral Valley region of the park. With jaw dropping vistas at every turn, I'm sure we'll spend more time out there on our next visit.

We had a fantastic time in Capitol Reef, but as always, it was soon time to move on. This time we were moving on to our last stop of the trip, Zion National Park. More to come...
