"Fireworks" | Bryce Canyon National Park
This image was created on my second night out in Bryce Canyon. Like the previous night, I had a relatively small window of time between the moon set and the twilight, but I had a much better idea of where the Milky Way would be positioned relative to the hoodoos and canyon walls on my second time out.
Having the canyon to yourself is a pretty amazing experience, which in itself is reason enough to get out and shoot the stars (who needs sleep anyway?), but the Milky Way is simply magical. The strange rock formations and the mystery of the Milky Way are a powerful combination that sets your imagination to work. To capture that feeling of mystery, I've chosen to emphasize the variety of colors in the night sky.
As the dawn began to approach, I hiked up to the rim and headed off to wake up the rest of the crew. It was time to leave Bryce Canyon and head to Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.
More to come...
