"'Round the Bend" | Horseshoe Bend, Page, Arizona
My spring trip to northern Arizona and southern Utah rocked! (literally!) This gorgeous canyon country just delivers jaw dropping beauty around every corner. We used Las Vegas as our jumping off point for this loop through some fantastic country, highlights of the trip included Horseshoe Bend (above!), Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, Bryce Canyon, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Capitol Reef National Park and Zion National Park.
I've got a few thousand new frames to edit, I'm going to let them breathe a little and then get to work. The experiences that surround creating landscape photographs are always so invested with emotion that I like to let a little of that go with the passing of time before editing so that I can approach the collection with a more objective, critical eye.
This image of Horseshoe Bend was taken at the very beginning of the trip. Horseshoe Bend is just a stones throw outside of Page, Arizona. When viewing the bend you're facing west making this an interesting sunset shot when the conditions are right. The first evening here produced a heavy gray sky that blocked out the setting sun. The image above was taken on my second attempt the following night. Just a few clouds provide a little interest in the sky and at this time of year, you can line up the setting sun with the peninsula.
More fresh work coming soon...
